I like to keep a rescue inhaler handy wherever I go. Can I get several ProAir RespiClick® inhalers at one time?

You may be able to receive three ProAir RespiClick® inhalers with one copay. Here’s how: Ask
your insurance company if you are eligible for a mail-order program. If so, enroll in the
program. Then ask your doctor to call in a 90-day prescription for ProAir RespiClick® to the
mail-order company. Three inhalers will be delivered to your home. (You can skip the trip to
the pharmacy and possibly save on your copay!)

Can I use a spacer with ProAir RespiClick®?

No. A spacer cannot be used with ProAir RespiClick®…in fact, it was designed to be used without a spacer.

What does “breath-activated” mean?

It means the medicine is released only when you inhale. When you open ProAir RespiClick®, it “CLICKs” to let you know a dose has been loaded and when you’re ready, you breath in. By breathing in you activate the inhaler to deliver the medication.

What does the “CLICK” mean?

When you open the mouthpiece, you’ll hear a CLICK. That’s the sound of ProAir RespiClick® loading a single dose of medicine. When you hear that CLICK, you know that the medicine is ready for you to inhale.

How does ProAir RespiClick® technology work?

ProAir RespiClick® is “breath-activated”—it releases the medicine only when you breathe in. There’s no need to “press and breathe”. See how the inhaler works by watching the video on the video page of this website.

Do I need to store ProAir RespiClick® upright (“right side up”)?

No. ProAir RespiClick® can be stored in any position. There are no specific requirements for positional storage.

Why should I consider ProAir RespiClick®?

ProAir RespiClick® was the first FDA-approved multi-dose breath-activated rescue inhaler. So you don’t have to coordinate “pressing and inhaling” to receive a dose during an asthma attack.

Here are some reasons why you may wish to discuss with your doctor about ProAir RespiClick®:

  • No need to “press and breathe” at the same time
  • No priming or shaking
  • No button to press
  • No washing
  • No spray or “plume”
  • Do not use a spacer
  • No specific positional storage requirements
  • The built-in dose counter lets you know when it’s time to refill your prescription

Is ProAir RespiClick® covered by my insurance?

It’s covered by most commercial insurance companies as well as both Medicare and Medicaid. ProAir RespiClick® may have “preferred formulary coverage,” which may result in lower copays for you.

Do I have to prime ProAir RespiClick®?

No, ProAir RespiClick® does not require to be primed.

Approved Uses

ProAir RespiClick® (albuterol sulfate) Inhalation Powder is a prescription medicine used in people 4 years of age and older to:

  • treat or prevent bronchospasm in people who have reversible obstructive airway disease
  • revent exercise-induced bronchospasm

Important Safety Information

  • Do not use ProAir RespiClick (albuterol sulfate) Inhalation Powder if you are allergic to albuterol sulfate, lactose, milk proteins, or any of the ingredients in ProAir RespiClick. Ask your healthcare provider if you have any questions or are not sure
  • Before using ProAir RespiClick, tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you:
    • have heart problems
    • have high blood pressure (hypertension)
    • have convulsions (seizures)
    • have thyroid problems
    • have diabetes
    • have low potassium levels in your blood
    • are pregnant or planning to become pregnant
    • are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed
  • Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, especially:
    • other inhaled medicines or asthma medicines
    • beta blocker medicines
    • diuretics
    • digoxin
    • monoamine oxidase inhibitors
    • tricyclic antidepressants
  • Do not increase your dose or take extra doses of ProAir RespiClick without first talking to your healthcare provider
  • Get medical help right away if ProAir RespiClick no longer helps your symptoms, your symptoms get worse or you need to use your inhaler more often
  • While you are using ProAir RespiClick, do not use other inhaled rescue medicines and asthma medicines unless your healthcare provider tells you to do so
  • ProAir RespiClick may cause serious side effects, including:
    • worsening trouble breathing, coughing and wheezing (paradoxical bronchospasm). If this happens, stop using ProAir RespiClick and call your healthcare provider or get emergency help right away.
    • heart problems, including faster heart rate and higher blood pressure
    • possible death in people with asthma who use too much ProAir RespiClick
    • allergic reactions. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have the following symptoms of an allergic reaction:
      • itchy skin
      • swelling beneath your skin or in your throat
      • rash
      • worsening trouble breathing
    • increases in blood sugar
    • low potassium levels in your blood
  • The most common side effects of ProAir RespiClick include:
    • back pain
    • pain
    • upset stomach
    • sinus headache
    • urinary tract infection
    • your heart feels like it is pounding or racing (palpitations)
    • chest pain
    • fast heart rate
    • shakiness
    • nervousness
    • headache
    • dizziness
    • sore throat
    • runny nose
    • vomiting
  • These are not all of the possible side effects of ProAir RespiClick. For more information, ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist
